When I say $$$$, I mean it. These are some of the top spas in the state, and the author picked some of the most expensive treatments to describe. I’ve never been to any of them, so I can’t offer personal opinions. But I can tell you that Rutherford isn’t in Sonoma, it’s in Napa. And Menlo Park is nowhere near Gold Country–it’s actually right near Stanford Hospital. Hm, that could be useful. Perhaps I’ll find spas near major medical centers across the US and post about them here.
Also, please check with your doc before undergoing any spa treatments, especially ones that introduce heavy metals to the pores. It seems that I’ve read somewhere that heavy metal toxicity can be…er…less than helpful to those of us who already have chronic health problems. And yes, it’s possible to be sensitive/allergic to gold. Which would be kind of sad, but then there’s always silver and platinum for pretty jewelry if not for overpriced spa treatments.
