Come pose with us!
Fellow blogger and chronic pain sufferer Cat and friend Anna have decided to create a one-month yoga challenge, specifically targeted at members of the chronic pain community. I’m joining the challenge–I’m committing to do at least 2 poses per day at home.
So what does yoga have to do with traveling? Doing gentle, restorative yoga helps my pain. Which in turn helps me to travel. And a solo yoga practice, which is permitted in this “challenge,” works on the road as well as at home. I’ve done yoga poses on cheap motel beds plenty of times. The stretching part of yoga helps me keep my muscles from protesting the extra walking that traveling usually engenders. The strengthening of yoga makes more walking possible. And the yoga breathing helps to relax me after a long day on the road. It can even help relax me when I’m in serious pain.
Time to grab that copy of Yoga Journal I picked up at Whole Foods the other week and find some poses…
